Many DCSD elementary schools have found success using instructional routines from
UFLI Foundations-- a CDE approved intervention and supplemental resource--to supplement their Tier 1 foundational skills instruction. Classroom teachers, interventionists, and special educators have reported that UFLI is affordable and teacher-friendly (aside from buying the book, teaching slides and all other materials are free on their website), and includes many opportunities for engaging student practice with both decoding and encoding. In this session, we will provide an overview of UFLI Foundations. We will dig into how lessons and routines are structured, and how they can be incorporated into the foundational skills components of our Core Programs, Benchmark and Wonders. Teachers will walk away with a basic understanding of UFLI Foundations, as well as next steps for implementing UFLI routines within their current program.
